New St Leonards walking track

It has been another gap since writing a post for this blog. Yesterday, was entering our last month of winer walking for the Caversham club. It was promoted as a mystery walk with a 1pm start at the Ravensbourne harbour cycleway. Rather than have two walking groups the 24 walkers stayed together. When we got to Maia we were able to walk on the extension to St Leonards. It officially opened on Friday and it was a lovely addition.

Once at St Leonards we walked up Burkes Road to our home where Denise and I provided afternoon tea. We had worked hard to get the section is good shape for the hosting. It was nice to watch the reactions of the walkers as orange juice, scones and biscuits were consumed. We stayed at our home for just over 20 minutes and headed back. We walked to the end of Burkes Drive where it meets SH 88. It had been coned off for the Port Calmers Road relays. Once at Maia we crossed the road and did the last section of the cycle track to our cars. I estimated that the round trip was 10kms.
