An Icy Sunday Morning

Saturday 9 August

The walking group met at Moana Pool at 1pm just after a rainshower. 11 of us walked along Arthur Street to Maori Road. Half down this road we went up some steps to City Road. We walked a wee bit up Preston Crescent by Direen's home and on the grass to Lonsdale Street. Next it was along Beaumont, Napier and down Kenmure Road. We came back up Kenmure Road to Belleknowes. We went down Ross Street to the back of Arthur Street School. We went along City Road to Stuart Street and back to the Pool carpark. The walk took 90 mins and we walked around 8 kms

Sunday 10 August

What an icy morning! I had to de ice the car with water but it had re frozen by the time I got to Burkes Drive. It was a cautious trip to meet Craig at the Railway Station.

It was treacherous for our walk to St Clair Beach and back. We had to constantly look out for ice, particularly black ice. We walked along the one way south, over the Oval, and up King Edward Street to Cargill's Corner. Next it was Hillside Road and along Forbury Road to our destination. We then walked beside the beach, along a track to the end of Kettle Park. We walked along Victoria Road, Prince Albert Road to Cargills Corner. It was along Hillside Road, Orari Street, Portsmouth Drive, Thomas Burn Street to the Railway Station. The walk took us 2 hrs and 10 mins and I think we did 10 kms.
